Positions: DCS Engineer DBA
Experience: 5+ yrs
Location: Bangalore
Role Requirements:
• 5 years experience of working with Clients, Business Consultants, Account Managers, Solutions Architects and Engineers
• Ability to analyse complex problems, interpret operational needs and develop integrated and creative solutions
• Experience of working in a high pressure environment and adhering to tight deadlines
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, including business writing skills
• Be able to write clear and concise documentation.
• Demonstrable ability to work within a team.
• Innovative and flexible.
• Ability to plan and manage own workload.
Knowledge & Experience
Detailed knowledge of most of the following protocols/technologies is required
• Oracle Database 8i/9i/10g, installation, administration, performance tuning,
• Competent programming skills with Oracle PL/SQL, UNIX shell scripting, Perl scripting.
• Good Technical knowledge of Oracle 9i RAC and 10g RAC installation, configuration and tuning.
• Good working knowledge of RMAN Backup and Recovery
• Good working knowledge of DataGuard (Physical and Logical Standbys)
• Instal and administer Oracle9iAS and its components (Forms/Reports/Apache/Discover
er)
• Working experience of mySQL v4/v5
• Experience of working with Clients, New Business Consultants & Account Managers (sales), Solutions Architects and Solutions Engineers
• Experience of working in a high pressure environment and adhering to tight deadlines
• Understanding of networking technologies including TCP/IP, LAN/WAN etc
• Understanding of security within the Database including hardening Oracle & mySQL
• Knowledge of all operating systems and platforms including but not limited to Windows, UNIX and Linux
• Experience of storage & backup design within a database environment using DAS, NAS and SAN storage - different layouts based on different technologies.
• Knowledge of standard clustering technologies to enable implementation of highly available technical solutions
• Familiarity with all standard monitoring/reporting systems
• Extensive experience of Production Database systems.
• A good amount of experience of deploying applications on top of databases such as web servers, messaging systems, enterprise applications (e.g. CRM, ERP, Accounting), application/integration servers (inc. SUNOne, BizTalk) and content management systems as part of a consolidated technical solution.
Desirable Requirements
• Ability to speak other European languages
• Relevant vendor certifications would be advantageous.
