Job Summary:
Storage Management Group –Client Engineer
(http://www.netapp. com/products/ filer/datafabric .html)
is Network Appliance's storage management solution. It
monitors and configures Network Appliance storage
servers through a pleasant graphic user interface. It
has both a Java-based and a web-based user interface.
It uses both a proprietary
XML interface and SNMP to communicate with storage
servers.
As a DFM client software engineer you are responsible
for :
1. Designing and developing rich graphical user
interface using thin client technologies like
HTML/Java Script/AJAX.
2. Designing and enhancing the existing graphical user
interface to improve the usability of the product.
3. Interacting with different functions like QA,
Information Engineering, Product Management and
customers to seek inputs, evaluate feedback and come
up with optimal solution.
4. Help in conducting usability reviews, usability
testing and consolidating the inputs, prioritizing
them and
incorporating the feedback into the product.
5. Team mentoring and leadership skills.
Essential Functions:
1. Designing and developing user interface components
in HTML, CSS, Java Script and AJAX.
2. Design and development of wrapper classes or class
libraries which interacts with the backend DFM
functionality.
3. Enhancing and bug fixing for previous versions of
product release.
4. Interacting and responding to all the queries
either directly or indirectly by the customers with
minimum turnaround time.
5. Participating in reviews, which includes code,
design and architectural reviews and provide inputs
which would make the product more usable.
Requirements:
Mandatory Skills
1. Hands on experience developing UI using Java script
and AJAX.
2. Basic understanding of C programming.
3. User level understanding of Windows and Unix
(Linux, Solaris or any other flavor)
4. Basic understanding of database concepts and SQL.
Desirable Skills
1. Storage Management or Network Management skills
2. User experience and Usability skills.
Education:
This position requires a BS or MS in computer science,
computer engineering with a minimum of 5 years of
industry experience in developing UI using web related
technologies.
