Job Summary
This is a development engineer position in SysNet Business Unit under Software Group. This team is looking for motivated go-getter individual with good attitude and abilities to work on a multi-tier management software, called xVM Ops Center, for Sun"s cutting edge Virtualization platform. The person will own one or more modules and responsible for feature development while working closely with architects and other senior members of the team.

The position requires understanding of the "Systems Management" and Virtualization domain and good expertise in Java, C, Postgres and Solaris/Linux.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
---------------------
(1) Take ownership of one or more modules in an existing product.
(2) Design and develop features for new releases and fix bugs in the assigned modules.
(3) Participate in the architecture, design and other reviews/discussions.
(4) Pro-actively work with management, architects and peers.
(5) Perform failure analysis, debugging and investigation of complex problems.


Required Skills:
----------------
(1) B. Tech/M. Tech CS or equivalent with 1 or more years of relevant industry experience, preferably with a product company.
(2) Good understanding of systems management domain.
(3) Ability to work across the stack i.e. agent, services, database and console tiers as required.
(4) Excellent Java & C programming skills.
(5) Development experience on Solaris (required) and Linux (desirable) OS using an IDE (Netbeans preferable) and debugging tools.
(6) Knowledge of Postgres or Derby database along with SQL, PL-SQL / Pg-SQL.
(7) Ability to work with UNIX Shell scripts.
(8) Should have worked with some form of Configuration Management tool (CVS desirable) on UNIX platform.
(9) Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
(10) Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
